Grace is ~ GOD's Unmerited Favor

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

As Christian women in the military or those who are now Veterans, we should understand that God’s grace is how we make it from day to day. We are recipients and benefactors of God’s amazing grace and mercy! In other words, we receive grace from God and, in turn, extend grace to others.

Sisters in Arms, we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and understand that He died

on the cross for our sins so we could live eternally. Jesus now wears the crown as the “KING OF

KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Grace is thematic throughout the Bible, and we should want

to understand God’s grace. We must remember we all need grace and favor that we do not deserve.

Let’s recognize God’s grace and then share it with others.

The Bible has a lot to say about God’s grace. Paul’s thorn is an excellent example of how God expects us to trust Him and the sufficiency of His grace! If you want to learn more about the meaning of God’s sufficient grace, read our featured article!

Paul’s Vision and His Thorn

2 Corinthians 12:6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Got Question Ministry will give us insight into God’s grace and powerful impact on our lives!

What is the grace of God? The short answer is:

Grace is a constant theme in the Bible, and it culminates in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus (John 1:17). The word translated “grace” in the New Testament comes from the Greek word charis, which means “favor, blessing, or kindness.” We can all extend grace to others; but when the word grace is used in connection with God, it takes on a more powerful meaning. Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence to the undeserving.
